Not A Traditional Birth Doula
The Soul Bridge
There’s an ancient story — not found in books, but in the quiet knowing of many hearts — that says before a baby is born, their soul lingers in a realm beyond this one, waiting. Watching. Listening.
And when the time is right, it’s the mother’s soul that goes to find them.
She crosses the veil in a dream, a whisper, a moment of stillness. She reaches out with love so deep it defies language — and calls the baby’s soul home. Not just to her body, but to her life. To her arms. To her story.
I don’t know exactly where this story comes from. Maybe it’s a myth. Maybe it’s memory. But I believe it speaks to something true: that pregnancy is more than a physical process. It is a spiritual homecoming. A soul-bridge.
And as a birth doula — not a traditional one — this is the space I hold.
I support you not just in your body, but in your being. In the quiet connection forming between you and your child before the world even knows they’re here. I help you listen for them. Feel them. Call them in with intention and tenderness.
Because I believe babies don’t just come from us.
They come through us.
And we, in some mysterious way, go to meet them first.
This is not just about birth as a medical event — it’s about birth as a sacred threshold.
As a doula, I don’t only support your body. I support your energy. I hold space for the emotions, intentions, and quiet transformations that unfold during pregnancy and birth — because your baby is not just growing from your body, but feeling from your being.
Babies feel what we feel. They sense our joy, our fears, our inner stillness, and our longing. The energy you carry during pregnancy shapes the energy they enter into. My role is to help you stay connected — to yourself, to your baby, and to the deeper rhythm of this passage.
I offer energetic and emotional support throughout pregnancy, holding space for whatever arises. This might look like calming presence, sacred listening, breath and visualization, or simply time set aside to connect with your baby soul-to-soul.
And if you choose, I also provide support during labour and birth — not in a clinical way, but as a grounded, intuitive presence. Someone to help hold the atmosphere with intention, trust, and care.
This is not a traditional birth doula service. It’s something more subtle.
More spiritual. More spacious. And just as essential.
Support may include:
Emotional and energetic guidance during pregnancy
Practices to help you connect with your baby
Sacred listening through shifts and fears
Reiki or gentle healing (if desired)
Labour support focused on peace, presence, and intuition
Personalized rituals or ceremonies before or after birth
Help siblings settle in with both the pregnancy and the arrival
Often times birth can leave you rattled & disconnected. Our focus is never really on the present moment, its always looking forward; to the end of a contraction, to the next contraction, to the next push. It’s never on where you are right now. Because we are always looking forward, we are not absorbing the meaning of the now. Our physical body will do what it needs to, to bring baby into this world, but our soul can sometimes be left behind.
At the end of it, with this beautiful baby in our arms, we continue to keep pace with the world around us, the world keeps moving and so do you. And still only focused on the next moment; “When can take my baby home?” The soul moves a little slower than our physical body. It needs that calm presence, the focus on the now, the moment to absorb a big event. I help you do just that. Connect with the present, connect with your soul, connect with your baby. Before, during and after.
Unlike a traditional doula who starts working with a client around 32 to 35 weeks and whose main focus is on the physicality of birth, my focus is on more than just the physical act of birth. I look at the birth process as the soul centered transition that it is for both you and the baby. And as for when our relationship begins, that’s completely up to you! I can start as early or as late as what feels right for you!
I have completed the training material on Birth and Postpartum with Doula Canada and working on the certification piece currently. I have previous experience in supporting births prior to engaging in this course to gain my official certification as a birth Doula.
